Ingredients

0/10 ready
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Assorted food coloring (red, blue, green, yellow, purple)
  • 1 cup vanilla buttercream
  • 2 cups assorted candies (gummy worms, rock candy, lollipops)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • Edible glitter
  • Fresh fruit (strawberries, kiwi, mango)
  • Whipped cream

The Story & Steps

Remember the iconic scene where Peter Pan finally remembers how to imagine, and suddenly the table explodes with color and food? This whimsical dessert platter brings that childlike wonder to life with an explosion of colors, textures, and pure joy—no imagination required, though it certainly helps.

Creating the Feast

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll out puff pastry and cut into various whimsical shapes: stars, hearts, clouds, and moons.
  2. Bake pastry shapes for 12-15 minutes until golden and puffed. Let cool completely.
  3. Divide cream cheese mixture into 5 small bowls. Add different food coloring to each bowl to create vibrant colors.
  4. Also divide buttercream into portions and color similarly.
  5. Cut fresh fruit into fun shapes using small cookie cutters.
  6. On a large serving platter, begin arranging elements with wild abandon: spread colored cream cheese on pastry pieces, pipe buttercream in swirls and peaks.
  7. Scatter candies across the platter like treasure. Stick lollipops upright into cream cheese bases.
  8. Add dollops of whipped cream and top with mini marshmallows.
  9. Arrange fruit shapes throughout.
  10. Finish with generous dustings of edible glitter over everything.

Serving the Magic

Present this at the table with great fanfare. Encourage everyone to eat with their hands, to mix sweet and savory, to play with their food. The point isn't elegance—it's remembering what it felt like to be a Lost Boy or Girl, when food was adventure and every meal was magic.
