Ingredients

0/7 ready
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, divided
  • Green food coloring (gel works best)
  • 1/2 cup crispy rice cereal
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Dinosaur-shaped gummy candies or dinosaur sprinkles

The Story & Steps

Tommy, Chuckie, and the gang were obsessed with Reptar—the green dinosaur star of their favorite show. These chocolate bars, famous for turning your tongue green, were the ultimate status symbol on the playground. Now you can make your own and relive the glory days of Saturday morning cartoons.

Creating the Magic

  1. Line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine milk chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons coconut oil.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  4. Stir in crispy rice cereal and nuts if using.
  5. Pour into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  6. In another bowl, melt white chocolate chips with remaining coconut oil.
  7. Add green food coloring, a few drops at a time, until you achieve a bright Reptar green.
  8. Pour the green chocolate over the milk chocolate layer and spread evenly.
  9. Immediately press dinosaur gummies or sprinkles into the top.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until completely firm.
  11. Remove from pan using the parchment overhang and cut into bars.

The Green Tongue Effect

For the authentic green tongue experience, brush a small amount of green food coloring on the bottom of each bar before serving. Warn your guests, or don't—watching their surprise is half the fun!

A responsibility to the babies: These bars are perfect for 90s-themed parties, watching Rugrats marathons, or any time you need a dose of childhood nostalgia.
